Is Dry Shampoo for Hair A Good Solution?

!±8± Is Dry Shampoo for Hair A Good Solution?

If you hate washing your hair and try to avoid doing it as much as possible, you may be curious about dry shampoo for hair. The thought of throwing some powder onto your head and brushing it through is certainly a lot more appealing than getting in the shower, washing, blow drying, and styling and definitely quicker. You know you can save time and money using a product like this so you figure there must be a catch in there somewhere. What are the pros and cons of using powder shampoo?

The good thing about this product is that it is easy and indeed saves quite a bit of time. Many women spend upwards of an hour on the process of washing and styling, particularly those with very curly hair who straighten or use a diffuser. This also exposes your hair to damage from heat so doing it less often helps your hair to be healthier. Moreover, you can save some money on your water and electric bills every time you skip this whole routine.

Another argument in favor of using these products is that they are convenient. In particular, if you stay over at your boyfriend's house a lot, you can just leave a bottle of hair powder at his house instead of lugging around your dryer, straightener and brushes or buying doubles. It's also a great thing to bring on short trips so you don't waste precious vacation time in the bathroom.

The main problem with these products is that they can be a bit tricky to apply. You need some patience at first until you get the hang of applying it, and this is a process you'll probably have to repeat if you ever switch brands because the formulas can be very different. A lot of people say that waterless shampoo makes their hair look too powdery. It's very possible that they are applying too much. You need to start out with just a little and then you can add more if your hair still looks greasy. A little goes a lot further than you'd think so be careful when you're starting out. For some people, the complaint is valid because some formulas really do look more powdery than others.

Another problem is the packaging. A lot of hair powders come in spray bottles in the hopes of easing application. However, many of these sprayers present their own set of problems as nozzles can get clogged and pressurized cans can lose their pep. Some people find that sprays aren't worth it so if you've had bad luck in the past, try a formula that comes in a shaker can instead. This should eliminate most of the problems people have when they say they only get a few uses out of each bottle.

7 Things to Do to Help Your Hair Grow Long

!±8± 7 Things to Do to Help Your Hair Grow Long

With the proper care and treatment long hair will not have to be a fantasy- it can become a reality! Here are a few tips that can help hair grow long. Paying special attention to your mane over time will improve the health of your locks.

1. Hair dye when applied too often will damage your locks causing it to become dry and brittle. For people who want to dye their mane, it's best to use products with natural ingredients--this will protect your mane from damage. For people who want to dye their hair red, it's best to use Henna based dyes. The same goes for black hair, Henna or indigo based dyes are natural and will provide good results.

2. For hair styles, the less you use hair dyes and hot irons the better off your locks will be. Heat damages your tresses and dries out the natural oils from it. For people who must use a blow dryer using a diffuser along with the dryer will protect your mane from heat damage.

3. Over exposure to natural elements such as the wind or sun over time can damage your hair. If you must venture outdoors wearing a hat or a scarf will offer protection from the elements. At nights before going to bed wearing a silk scarf while you sleep will protect your locks from pulling. For those who can afford it, a silk pillow case will go a far way in comfort and protecting your hair.

4. Your tresses in general will only grow half and inch on a monthly basis and if you are impatient it will seem that it is growing even slower, but this is the natural way of hair.

5. Special care must be placed when handling your hair. Hands which are oily and dirty will leave back reside in hair which is unsightly. Before massaging your head ensure that your hands are clean and dry.

6. When venturing outdoors it's always best to wear hair styles that offer protection from the elements. Such styles are buns, cornrows, plaits, ponytails and French braids. Always remember never to style hair too tight as this puts the scalp under stress and damage the hair roots. Such styles are not recommended for people that have hair that reaches their shoulders. This is due to friction that is created when their hair comes into contact with the shoulder and clothes. For holding hair in place, use smooth clips or rubber bands. Butterfly clips or metal clips along with elastic bands are also a good choice.

7. Always use a strong herbal oil a powerful herbal oil like Mira hair oil is excellent for helping your hair grow. A perfect one will contain all natural ingredients such as herbs and natural oils that stimulate the blood flow in the scalp which in turn promotes hair growth and healthy hair.

Follow these simple tips and you will grow long hair fast.

How to Get Naturally Curly Hair

!±8± How to Get Naturally Curly Hair

You do not have to visit my hair salon in Lafayette to gain some curls to your straight hair. If you are wondering how you can get your straight look to be the naturally curly look, here is a step by step method. The best part is that you can do this on your own at home.

Step 1

Shampoo with a Clarifying Shampoo.

The clarifying shampoo will not only clean but it will also rid your hair of oils as well. This is an important step since lighter hair is more prone to curl than darker. This step will also dry out your hair somewhat. They dryness promotes curls as well.

Step 2

Towel Dry.

Do not overdo this - you want to keep your hair damp, but not soaking wet. Ideally you should only wrap your hair in the towel - DO NOT RUB, as this can promote the frizzles.

Step 3

Apply a Small Amount of Product.

The type of product depends upon your hair type. If it is thick (and more straight), use a gel. If it is more fine in texture, then I recommend using a touch of mousse. Make sure you apply only enough to coat your hair - do not over do it.

Step 4

Turn Your Hair Upside Down.

Simply let your hair hang towards the ground. Just a couple of minutes will help promote a little more volume in your hair. Keep your hair in this fashion for the next step.

Step 5

Use a Blow Dryer.

Make sure you keep your hair pointing down while drying your hair. This will help to add volume, especially close to the roots. While drying your hair, make sure to "scrunch" your hair with your hands. You want to make sure that the air is hot, but leave the blower on a low setting. It is important for the low setting as you do not want your hair to dry too fast before you can scrunch it with your hands. Using a diffuser attachment will help as this diffuses the hot air to keep from breaking down your curls.

Step 6

Flip Your Hair Right Side Up.

Now that your hair is dry, you can add some moisturizing product to your hair and comb it in gently. Hair spray will also help the curl stay in longer.
